I tend to be a very empathetic person with everyone around me. Beings of all kinds, I don't discriminate. And occasionally there are people who completely touch my heart and I don't know why. The truth is that yesterday, I went to the usual dietetics and I met Encarnación. She is the longest-lived person I know today.

Encarna is Eli's mother, the owner of the dietetics who usually goes every day to be with her in the store accompanying her during the whole day. The day I met her I was at the door when I saw her I was surprised and she looked at me, I entered the store and stayed talking to Eli. Every time I went to the store she was sitting on the sidewalk watching people pass by, someone who already knew her would say hello and follow her and she was always smiling.

After a while of seeing me once a week or, depending on the moment, twice a week, we started to greet each other and after greeting each other we started to talk for the first time. I remember the first time I talked to her and we greeted each other she told me her name, she asked me mine and we both smiled, and after the smile came the, what are you coming to buy?

Talking more and more she told me that she came from Bolivia many years ago, and that with her husband and her two brothers and when they arrived they went to live in the neighborhood of Liniers. Over time the family grew and they had three children. Eli, the eldest always accompanied her to work and when she was young Encarnacion had a greengrocer's shop that was doing very well and after school she would stay with her to help her and spend the afternoon. Encarnacion told me that this brought them together, although it is difficult to work with the family because it is sometimes difficult to separate family friction from work.

What is certain is that now she is 94 years old and she could be at home enjoying resting, sunbathing in the morning or going for a walk around a little bit. To see her grandchildren, to do whatever she wants, but since she has been working all her life, she gets bored being alone all day at home, so she asked her daughter to join her in the business that her daughter now manages. The business that she knew how to set up after so many years helping her mother, her own dietetics. So now they spend their day together as usual.

Encarnación is a woman who lives happily, who feels alive. She likes to be on the sidewalk and talk to people and she also goes and helps with the store, sitting down and keeping her company. I thought it was a great story to tell, the love and courage for the elderly. To not leave them stranded at home and to keep sharing with them by giving them an entity like any other person, just by doing that she is happy.

Suelo ser una persona muy empática con todos los que me rodean. Seres de todo tipo, no discrimino. Y puntualmente hay personas que me llegan completamente al corazón y no sé por qué motivo. Lo cierto es que ayer, fui a la dietética de siempre y me encontré con Encarnación. Ella es la persona más longeva que conozco hoy.

Encarna es la mama Eli, la dueña de la dietética quien suele ir todo los días a estar con ella en el negocio acompañándola durante todo el día. El día que la conocí estaba en la puerta cuando la vi me sorprendi y me miro, yo entre al local y me quede hablando con Eli. Cada vez que iba al local ella estaba sentada en la vereda mirando la gente pasar alguna persona que ya la conocía la saludaba por ahí y seguía y ella siempre estaba sonriente.

Después de un tiempo de verme una vez por semana o según el momento 2 veces la misma semana nos empezamos a saludar y después del saludo empezaron las primera charlas. Recuerdo que la primera vez que hablé con ella y nos saludamos me dijo su nombre ella me preguntó el mío y ambos nos sonreímos, y después de la sonrisa vino el, que venis a comprar?

Hablando cada vez más ella me contó que ella vino de Bolivia hace muchos años, y que con su marido y sus dos hermanos y cuando llegaron se fueron a vivir al barrio de Liniers. Con el tiempo la familia se agrandó y tuvieron tres hijos. Eli, la mayor siempre la acompañó a trabajar y cuando era joven Encarnación tenía una verdulería que le iba muy bien y ella después del colegio iba a quedar con ella a ayudarla y pasar la tarde. Encarnacion me dijo que eso las unió mucho aunque es difícil trabajar con la familia porque los roces familiares es difícil a veces separarlos de lo laboral.

Lo cierto es que ahora ella tiene 94 años y podría estar tranquila en la casa disfrutando de descansar, tomar sol en la mañana o salir a pasear por ahí un poquito. De ver a sus nietos, de hacer lo que se le dé la gana pero ella al trabajar toda su vida se aburre estando sola todo el día en su casa entonces le pidió a la hija que quería acompañarla en el negocio que ahora maneja su hija. El negocio que se supo poner después de tantos años ayudando a la madre, su propia dietética. Entonces ahora ellas pasan juntas su día como siempre.

Encarnación es una mujer que vive feliz, que se siente viva. Le gusta estar en la vereda y hablar con la gente y también va y ayuda con la tienda sentadita haciéndole compañía. Me pareció una gran historia para contar, el amor y el valor por los más grandes. A no dejarlos tirados en su casa y a seguir compartiendoles dándoles entidad como a cualquier persona tan solo con eso ella es feliz.
