Last night was the last day of the carnival celebration and the truth is that I wanted to go to see what was going on. I'm not so fond of carnivals, I don't know why, I've been there but I never really liked it. It's not that I'm a person who has a lot of problems with social events, on the contrary, I still don't like them. So I wanted to see how was the closing of the corso in my neighborhood. I don't know if you know but corso is the name given to the place where carnivals are celebrated, and there are several all over the city. I knew that there had been a budget cut with respect to the corsos and from twice as many as there were years ago there are now only about 15 or so left so having one near my house was synonymous with going and seeing what was going on.

When I arrived I don't know if it was because today is the return to work after such a big holiday but the truth is that there was little public even a little here is a lot, but really it is usually much more. The corso is a meeting place where something very nice is generated, the neighborhood is united. Neighbors that you know exist but with whom you don't talk during the whole year, you come across them and you start talking, the son/daughter of a neighbor of the neighborhood starts playing foam with your son/daughter and friendships are formed that can be for the rest of your life. You see friends from the neighborhood who know each other from the club and today after 30 or 40 years they are still friends. At the corso people get together, they go with the desire to celebrate and have fun, they know they are going to play and watch dancing, to listen to music and to eat and drink something in the street. They know they are going to share with others and it doesn't matter if you are a River or Boca fan, if you voted for one or the other, if you like Redondos or Cerati, just share. For those who are not Argentines we came from years of a lot of rivalry between people because of political ideas and there was no respect for what one could think and it was to be on one side or the other, there was a lot of violence and a lot of anger, a lot of frustration and it was all very ugly in the day to day. You had to be careful of what to say and where to say it, nobody could think freely, even respecting the other, so that freedom and empathy for the other that we all had was diluted.

So this year, thanks to the social conscience that was created with respect to this, and thanks to the kids who won the World Cup and the whole country united after that, the mood changed and today the society is united again, even if we have different ideologies, but respecting the other, without violence and with the empathy that we always had and characterized us, the Argentines.

And here we are, a small summary of what was this last day of carnivals full of color, music and foam on a beautiful night!

¡Hola Comunidad de Hive!

Ayer a la noche fue el último día del festejo de los carnavales y la verdad es que quise ir a ver qué era lo que pasaba. No soy tan amigo de los carnavales, no se porque, he ido pero nunca me terminó de gustar. No es que sea una persona que tenga muchos problemas con eventos sociales todo lo contrario aun asi no me gusta. Asique quería ver cómo era el cierre en el corso de mi barrio. No se si saben pero corso se le dice al lugar en donde se festejan los carnavales, y hay varios a lo ancho y a lo largo de la ciudad. Yo sabía que había habido un recorte del presupuesto con respecto a los corsos y de el doble que había años atrás ahora solo quedan unos 15 aproximadamente por ende tener uno cerca de mi casa era sinónimo de ir y ver que pasaba.

Cuando llegue no se si era porque hoy se retoma la vuelta al trabajo después de un feriado tan grande pero lo cierto es que había poco público aunque sea un poco acá es un montón, pero realmente suele ser mucho más. El corso es un lugar de encuentro en donde se genera algo muy lindo, el barrio se une. Los vecinos que sabes que existen pero con los que no hablas durante todo el año te los cruzas y te pones a hablar, el hijo/a de un vecino del barrio se pone a jugar a la espuma con tu hijo y se forman amistades que pueden ser para toda la vida. Vez amigos del barrio que se conocen del club y hoy después de 30 o 40 años siguen siendo amigos. En el corso las personas se juntan, van con ganas de festejar y divertirse, saben que van a jugar y a ver bailar, a escuchar música y a comer y tomar algo en la calle. Saben que van a compartir con otro y no importa si sos de River o de Boca, si votaste a uno o a otro, si te gustan los Redondos o Cerati, solo compartir. Para los que no son Argentinos venimos de años de mucha rivalidad entre las personas por ideas políticas y no se respetaba lo que uno podía pensar y era estar de un lado o del otro, había mucha violencia y mucho enojo, mucha frustración y estaba todo muy feo en el dia a dia. Tenías que cuidarte de que decir y en donde decirlo nadie podía pensar libremente, aun respetando al otro entonces se fue diluyendo esa libertad y empatía por el otro que todos teníamos.

Así es que este año gracias a la conciencia social que se creo con respecto a esto, y gracias a los pibes que ganaron el mundial y el país entero se unió después de eso, los ánimos cambiaron y la sociedad hoy está unida de nuevo sin dejar de tener ideologías distintas, pero respetando al otro, sin violencia y con la empatía que siempre tuvimos y nos caracterizó a los Argentinos.

Y acá estamos, un pequeño resumen de lo que fue este último día de carnavales a puro color, música y espuma en una noche hermosa!
