Today I wanted to show you some images of the exhibition I saw at the museum of modern art in the city of Buenos Aires. I had never been there before and I found it a beautiful place. Truly a highly recommended museum and the exhibition is amazing.

The weekend I was not knowing what to do very well and at the same time I wanted to visit some new place. By chance it came to my mind that I remembered that I hadn't been to an exhibition for a long time, so the two things combined. I checked what museums there were to visit that I didn't know about and that's where this one appeared.

**The works that make up Green Manifesto, produced between the 1940s and the present, are a celebration of art as a fundamental tool for discovering the vigor that characterizes the Earth, which the artists access through the careful observation of their surroundings and their pictorial and imaginary exercises. In these works, reality and fantasy converge: they are exuberant visions where humans, flora, fauna, air, water and earth coexist and participate in processes of transformation and exchange. In them, geographies become anatomies and nature recovers the form of a great wild organism that is dream and nightmare, that devours and embraces. The excessive proportions of the works, their undulating and intertwined forms, the vibration of their colors and the nourished character of their compositions reveal the infinite and non-hierarchical wefts that compose all living things and remind us that nature is not a simple object of domination.

Green Manifesto takes its title from the statement written in 1971 by Nicolás García Uriburu (Argentina, 1937-2016) in which he denounces the antagonism between nature and civilization. In seeking to distance ourselves from the dichotomous categories that have distanced us from the rest of the living, this exhibition is a tribute to Uriburu's pioneering activism, beyond his performative practice, and is focused on recovering the fundamental role that his painting had as a manifesto against the depredation and exploitation of the Earth. Based on this impulse, we began a dialogue with Florencia Böhtlingk, with whom we brought together works by artists who for decades have been creating fertile images that invite us to pay attention and to recover our amazement in the face of painting and, through it, in the face of a living world that throbs and feels.

The works of these artists contributed to the artistic movements very personal languages born of our South in response to the experiences of the delta of the Paraná River, the wetlands, the Littoral, the jungles of Misiones and the Amazon, the Andean landscape. These and other ecosystems are reincarnated emancipated in these paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures, where they find a place to breathe, to show their richness and their entrails. **

Hoy quería mostrarles algunas imágenes de la muestra que vi en el museo de arte moderno de la ciudad de Buenos Aires. No había ido jamás y me pareció un lugar hermoso. Verdaderamente un museo super recomendable y puntualmente la muestra es increíble.

El fin de semana estaba sin saber que hacer muy bien y al mismo tiempo tenía ganas de conocer algún lugar nuevo. De casualidad me vino a la mente acordarme que hacía mucho tiempo no iba a ninguna muestra entonces combinaron las dos cosas. Me fijé que museos había para visitar y que yo no conocía y ahí apareció este.

**Las obras que integran Manifiesto verde, producidas entre la década de 1940 y la actualidad, son una celebración del arte como herramienta fundamental para descubrir el vigor que caracteriza a la Tierra, al que los artistas acceden a partir de la observación minuciosa de sus entornos y de sus ejercicios pictóricos e imaginarios. En estas obras convergen la realidad y la fantasía: son visiones exuberantes donde humanos, flora, fauna, aire, agua y tierra conviven y participan de procesos de transformación e intercambio. En ellas, las geografías se vuelven anatomías y la naturaleza recupera la forma de un gran organismo salvaje que es sueño y pesadilla, que devora y abraza. Las proporciones excesivas de las obras, sus formas onduladas y entrelazadas, la vibración de sus colores y el carácter nutrido de sus composiciones dan cuenta de las tramas infinitas y no jerárquicas que componen todo lo vivo y nos recuerdan que la naturaleza no es un simple objeto de dominación.

Manifiesto verde toma su título de la declaración escrita en 1971 por Nicolás García Uriburu (Argentina, 1937-2016) en la que denuncia el antagonismo entre naturaleza y civilización. Al procurar alejarnos de las categorías dicotómicas que nos han distanciado del resto de lo viviente, esta exhibición es un homenaje al activismo pionero de Uriburu, más allá de su práctica performática, y está centrada en recuperar el rol fundamental que tuvo su pintura como manifiesto contra la depredación y la explotación de la Tierra. A partir de este impulso, iniciamos un diálogo con Florencia Böhtlingk junto a la cual reunimos obras de artistas que desde hace décadas crean imágenes fecundas que nos invitan a prestar atención y a recuperar el asombro frente a la pintura y, a través de ella, frente a un mundo vivo que palpita y siente.

Las obras de estos artistas aportaron a los movimientos artísticos lenguajes personalísimos nacidos de nuestro Sur en respuesta a las vivencias del delta del río Paraná, de los humedales, del Litoral, de las selvas misionera y amazónica, del paisaje andino. Estos y otros ecosistemas reencarnan emancipados en estas pinturas, dibujos, grabados y esculturas, donde encuentran lugar para respirar, mostrar su riqueza y sus entrañas. **
