When I grow up I have already decided that I want to go to live in retreat in a Buddhist temple. In fact we were talking yesterday and many friends who are not Buddhists told me that if they had to believe in something it would be in Buddha because it seemed to them that of all religions, it has the best philosophical proposal.

That's when I remembered this trip I made that time to the north of Argentina and we were so bored of being there walking around and they told us about this Buddhist temple that is a few kilometers away from the town. I remember as if it was yesterday, a driver told us what they were doing where they went, he asked us. We told him that we had already done a little bit of everything, so he asked us if we knew that temple, and he started to tell us that a lot of people go there, that it is really very beautiful and he told us that it is full of statues, that it is a huge place and a lot of other things.

So after such a good comment it occurred to us to go and see such an opportunity since we were so close. The next day we left for there after breakfast. The trip took a little longer than we thought it would but we soon arrived on the Brazilian side. When we arrived we went inside and looked for the place where we had to pay the entrance ticket. At that moment we found out that there was no ticket but that the way that place received money was from donations and souvenir sales that they had in a store next to the entrance.

So we started to walk around the place and we decided to go in. As soon as we started the tour we found some statues of a larger size than the standard size of a person, about 2.30 meters long. Statues representative of the history of Buddhism, and although many looked angry or like warriors and Buddhism is never associated with that, the truth is that they were a bit intimidating. They were all made of concrete, they were simple statues, not very expensive like other marble statues that you can find in other countries, but with their mark well marked and very well made.

Then I found out a little and discovered that they were warriors who later in the history of Buddhism end up becoming great references in the history of this beautiful creed. So we went through some of the walkways that were full of statues from side to side. We came across a large painted Buddha and a really beautiful temple on the outside, although inside it was not much.

After 20 minutes of entering we realized that there was nothing else to do, there was no guided tour where we could know more about the history than some posters they had there. And we also realized how bored we were. That's why this post reminds me of that boring moment but funny at the end because we started to get annoyed with each other for having listened to the opinion of the man who probably hadn't even been there and who we couldn't ask again because he recommended this place to us. So you know if you are in Foz do Iguaçu and they mention a Buddhist temple, don't go, you will lose a morning of your trip and it is not worth it.

Cuando sea grande ya lo decidí quiero ir a vivir de retiro a un templo budista. De hecho estábamos hablando ayer y muchos amigos sin ser budistas me dijeron que si tuvieran que creer en algo sería en buda porque les pareció de las religiones, la que tiene la mejor propuesta filosófica.

Ahí fue que me acordé de este viaje que hice aquella vez al norte argentino y estábamos tan aburridos de estar ahí dando vueltas y nos dijeron de este templo budista que está a unos kilómetros del pueblo. Me acuerdo como si fuera ayer, un remisero nos dijo que están haciendo a donde fueron, nos preguntó. Nosotros les contamos que ya habíamos hecho de todo un poco entonces nos pregunta si conocemos ese templo, y nos empezó a contar que muchísima gente va para allá, que es realmente muy lindo y nos cuenta que está lleno de estatuas, que es un predio enorme y un montón de cosas más.

Entonces después de tan buen comentario se nos ocurrió ir a ver tal oportunidad siendo que estábamos tan cerca. Al día siguiente nos fuimos para allá después del desayuno. El viaje se hizo un poco más largo de lo que pensábamos pero llegamos al rato del lado brasilero. Cuando llegamos entramos y buscamos donde era que había que abonar el ticket de la entrada. En ese momento nos encontramos con que no había ticket sino que la manera de que ese lugar recibiera dinero era de donaciones y de la venta de souvenirs que tenían en una tienda a un costado de la entrada.

Entonces empezamos a recorrer el lugar y nos animamos a pasar. Apenas empieza el recorrido nos encontramos con unas estatuas de un tamaño más grande que el estándar de una personas, masomenos calculo que 2.30 mts de largo. Estatuas representativas de la historia del budismo, y aunque muchos parecían enojados o como guerreros y el budismo nunca se lo asocia con eso lo cierto es que eran un poco intimidantes. Estaban todos hechos en concreto, eran estatuas simples no muy costosas como otras de mármol que se pueden encontrar en otros países, pero con su impronta bien marcada y muy bien hechas.

Después averigüé un poco y descubrí que eran unos guerreros que luego en la historia del budismo se terminan convirtiendo en grandes referentes de la historia de este hermoso credo. Así fuimos pasando por algunas de las pasarelas que había llenas de estatuas de lado a lado. Nos encontramos con un gran Buda pintado y con un templo realmente muy hermoso por fuera, aunque por dentro no fue la gran cosa.

A los 20 minutos de haber entrado nos dimos cuenta que no había más nada para hacer, no había una visita guiada en donde pudieramos saber mas de la historia mas que algunos carteles que tenian alli. Y también nos dimos cuenta de lo mucho que nos habíamos aburrido. Por eso este posteo me viene a recordar ese momento aburrido pero gracioso al final porque nos empezamos a gastar entre nosotros por haberle hecho caso a la opinión del señor que posiblemente ni había ido y al cual no le pudimos volver a preguntar porque nos recomendó este lugar. Asique ya saben si están por Foz de Iguazú y les mencionan de un templo budista, no vayan se van a perder una mañana de su viaje y no vale la pena.
