Yesterday after several years I went back to Retiro station. I had to send the car to the service so I took the opportunity to have to go downtown and the return I wanted to do it by train. It had been many years since the last time I went to the station, which at some point receives me every day to go and to return to my work and the truth is that the station was always very nice, its architecture is amazing and has no waste. Yesterday I went back and when I was approaching it I realized that they were restoring it and it is really beautiful. They cleaned it all up and it's super neat and what I thought was unbelievable before is now a beautiful madness. Everything stands out more, you can notice the details and I think it even changes your mood when you enter the station. Maybe if you are one of those who have to go every day it doesn't happen, but I think that even if you go every day, if you have to go to a horrible place it must not be the same as if you go to a beautiful station where everything is nice to the eyes, everything is taken care of and safe, or at least you feel that.

The immensity of this railway station is imposing, I don't know how it will be in other places of the world, the truth is that I don't know so many as to be able to give an opinion on the subject but what I do know is that besides being beautiful it is enormous and from here many trains leave for the interior of the country not only as daily trains but also long distance trains that are gradually improving the service so that they can recover the kilometers of sections that once existed and in the 90's were extinguished due to privatization. In the previous paragraph I mentioned how safe it feels and it is important to mention it because on one side of the station there is Libertador Avenue, but on the other side there is a space between the bus station and the train station where a small village was built, but over the years it has grown and today there are hundreds of people living there. Many working people who do not have the necessary resources to be able to live in a place with all the basic necessities, but who work, get up early every day and try to get ahead, and many of them do. But also the villas are places where there is a lot of crime, there is a lot of drugs and I know this because I have acquaintances who lived there and first hand they told me that there is an internal dispute between the working people and the people who want to live off drugs and robbery and they don't do it.

At one time it was a very unsafe place and you couldn't get through because you get robbed all the time in broad daylight and there were no police, it was no man's land. From what I could see yesterday it looks much better and safer although the extension of the village is still growing. Very important fact to keep in mind. Inside the village there is a rest that is there in a pedestrian type street that they have and they eat Peruvian food that they say is one of the best there is. I did not dare to go there yet, but I was told that it is a place that should be recognized, but it does not stand out more for being there in the vicinity.

When I took these photos I wanted to sit for a moment and contemplate the space I was in. I saw a lot of people going about their lives. And I was thinking about how many stories if you could get inside people's heads how many things at the same time could be going on in their heads. How many situations are going on in that same place. I don't have the data of how many people pass through this station every day, it is infinite the amount of things that these walls can tell if they could talk.

Ayer después de varios años volví a la estación de Retiro. Tuve que mandar el auto al service entonces aproveche la oportunidad de tener que ir al centro y la vuelta la quise hacer en tren. Habían pasado muchos años desde la última vez que fui a la estación, que en algún momento me recibe todos los días para ir y para volver a mi trabajo y lo cierto es que la estación siempre fue muy linda, su arquitectura es increíble y no tiene desperdicio alguno. Ayer volví y cuando me fui acercando me di cuenta que estaban restaurando y realmente está quedando muy hermosa. La limpiaron toda y está super arreglada y lo que antes me parecía increíble ahora es una locura hermosa. Todo se resalta más, se notan los detalles y creo que hasta te cambia el ánimo al entrar en la estación. Quizás si sos de los que tiene que ir todos los días no pase, pero creo que aun yendo todos los dias, si tenes que ir a un lugar horrible no debe ser lo mismo que si vas a una estación hermosa en donde todo es agradable a los ojos todo se cuida y es seguro, o al menos se siente eso.

La inmensidad de esta estación ferroviaria es imponente, nose como sera en otros lugares del mundo la verdad no conozco tantas como para poder opinar del tema pero lo que si se es que además de ser hermosa es enorme y desde aquí salen muchos trenes para el interior del país no solamente como trenes diarios sino trenes de larga distancia que están poco a poco mejorando el servicio para que se puedan recuperar los kilómetros de tramos que en su momento existieron y en los años 90 se extinguieron por culpa de la privatización. en el párrafo anterior hacía mención de lo seguro que se siente y es importante mencionarlo porque la estación de un lado tiene la avenida Libertador pero del otro tiene un espacio al costado entre la estación de ómnibus y la del tren en donde se gestó una villa que en su momento fue pequeña pero con los años fue acrecentando y hoy son cientos de personas las que viven allí. Mucha gente trabajadora que no tiene los recursos necesarios para poder estar en un lugar con todas las necesidades básicas completas pero que trabajan se levantan temprano día a día y tratan de salir adelante y muchos de ellos lo hacen. Pero también las villas son lugares en donde hay mucha delincuencia, hay mucha droga y lo sé porque tengo conocidos que vivieron ahí y de primera mano me contaban que hay una disputa interna entre las personas trabajadoras y las personas que quieren vivir de la droga del robo y que no hacen.

En una época era un lugar muy inseguro y no podías pasar porque te roban todo el tiempo en plena luz del día y no había policía, era tierra de nadie. Por lo que pude ver ayer se ve mucho mejor y más seguro aunque la extensión de la villa sigue creciendo. Dato muy importante a tener en cuenta. Dentro de la villa hay un resto que está ahí en una calle tipo peatón que tienen y que se come una comida peruana que dicen que es de las mejores que hay. No me anime a ir aun, pero me dijeron que es un lugar que debería ser reconocido, pero no se destaca más por estar ahí en las inmediaciones.

Cuando saqué estas fotos me quise sentar en un momento y contemplar un poco el espacio en donde estaba. Vi muchas personas pasando muy enchufadas en sus vidas. Y pensaba en la cantidad de historias que si uno pudiera meterse en la cabeza de las personas cuantas cosas al mismo tiempo pueden estar sucediendo en sus cabezas. Cuántas situaciones están transcurriendo en ese mismo lugar. No tengo el dato de cuántas personas pasan por esta estación a diario es infinita la cantidad de cosas que estas paredes pueden contar si hablaran.
