The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Exodus 15, Post #4
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Exodus 15:19-22
For all intents and purposes, the people are still at the coastline where the Mitsraim (Egyptians) drown. There have been a lot of songs of praise for the yeshua (salvation) from the aggressors, but they have not walked away from the place where they exited the sea after crossing.
Today's reading includes a retelling of the waters falling on the Mitsraim after God's people had walked on dry land. Then we get some new information, about Aaron's sister taking up a tambourine and dancing, singing about The Almighty's glorious triumph over the horses and riders.
Finally, Moshe (Moses) gets the people moving away from the Yom
Soof (see of reeds) and heading into the wilderness of Shur. We get a hint of what may be the next challenge as the scripture says that they "went three days in the wilderness and found no water"...
So begins the new life without slave drivers, but this new life will have its challenges and temptations that go with it.
Today's reading
English
For when the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, YHVH brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea. Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. And Miriam sang to them:
"Sing to YHVH, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea."
Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water.
