The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Exodus 3, Post #4
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Exodus 3:15-17
Today we are continuing with the meeting between Moshe (Moses) and God as God speaks from a burning bush. He states that he has observed their affliction.
Last week Moshe asked who he is that they should listen to him. This week God, in addition to telling him his name, makes a promise that he will bring them out of forced work and into a land of milk and honey.
Some teachers believe that Joseph's role in saving Mitsraim (Egypt) from the famine allowed Jacob (aka: Israel) and his family to come and live there. They say that this allowed them to grow into a great nation. Yes, they were enslaved due to the fear that they would be able to take over Mitsraim but The Creator of all things sought out a land for them, the best of the best lands, and will take them there as we will see in future posts.

And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, I am has sent me to you.' " God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations. Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, "I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt, and I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey."'
