The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 41, Post #6
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 41:37-43
For the last two posts, we talked about Pharaoh's dream and what it meant according to what Joseph heard from God. Now there is but one thing for Pharaoh to do. Who will be the wise steward that will save the land of Mitzraim (Egypt)?
Pharaoh reasons that since God showed Joseph the warning and meaning of the dreams and gave him a plan to avoid disaster, Joseph is the only logical choice to be the one to implement the plan.
He places him over his house, his people and over all of the land. Now all of the sudden, Joseph is master over all those who owned and managed him as a slave. What do you think will happen with that kind of power?

This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?" Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you." And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt." Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck. And he made him ride in his second chariot. And they called out before him, "Bow the knee!" Thus he set him over all the land of Egypt.
